Reading Tarot Cards with the Four Princesses
Take a look at how French designer Elodie Tribut has transformed the Valet d’épée from the original game into our charming Princess of Swords.
As a unique feature of our special edition, we have added four Princesses to the traditional court cards of this deck (King – Queen – Knight – Page). If you use these instead of the traditional Valets, you get a balanced suit of two male and two female, two young and two older figures, as we still find on old, hand-painted tarot cards from the 15th century.
Such a balance was once found in the passionate interplay of the Four Elements, upon whose secret foundation the Tarot was originally created.
